There are two days in every week about which we should not worry. Two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension.

One of these days is yesterday, with its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, its aches and pains. Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control.

All the money in the world cannot bring back yesterday. We cannot undo a single act we performed. We cannot erase a single word we said. Yesterday is gone!!

The other day we should not worry about is tomorrow, with its possible adversities, its burdens, its large promise and poor performance. Tomorrow is beyond our immediate control. Tomorrow’s sun will rise, whether in splendor or behind a mask of clouds. But it will rise. Until it does we have no stake in tomorrow, for it is yet unborn.

This leaves only one day: today.

Any man can fight the battles of just one day. It is when you and I add the burdens of two awful eternities – yesterday and tomorrow, that we break down.

It is not necessarily the experience of today that disturbs one’s peace of mind. It is oftentime the bitterness for something which happened yesterday and the dread of what tomorrow may bring.

Let us therefore live one day at a time.

A short motivational story examing the perspective of poverty and how things are always different from another person’s point of view. Take favour in what you have and do no long for what others have; note your achievements but still strive for further goals. Stay inspired!

One day a father, of a very wealthy family, took his son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose of showing his son how poor people can be. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.

On their return from the trip, the father asked his son,”How was the trip?”

“It was great Dad!”

“Did you see how poor people can be?” the father asked.

“Oh yeah,” said the son.

“So what did you learn from the trip?” asked the father.

The son answered,

” I saw we have one dog and they have four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.

We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.”

With this the boy’s father was speechless.

Then his son added,

“Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are.”

So often we try to create our identity with what we have, with our possessions and our position, yet our identity is actually created by our behavior, by what we do and more importantly by how we do what we do. What really matters is not what you have got or the position that you hold, but who you are and how you behave.

We have become a society where we tend to measure a persons status by their possessions and their position. We no longer measure them by their contribution to society. This has created an enormous pressure to constantly flaunt the trappings of “success” the material things that create the impression of status.

Yet the very drive to constantly acquire the trappings of “success” creates a problem. The problem of spending money that you don’t have, to buy things that you don’t need, so that you can impress people that you don’t like.

This leads to constant insecurity, firstly can I afford these things and secondly, what if someone gets something bigger, better, faster, brighter. You sacrifice your peace of mind for the illusion of material comfort and power.

We have to learn to do more with less. Realise that your personality is more important than your possessions. Realise that what you do is more important than what you’ve got. Realise that how you do what you do is more important than what you do.

Your actions have a greater influence on your reputation than the position you hold or the possessions you accumulate. The one thing that you take with you where ever you go, is you. Make sure that you are worth taking along. Realise that all possessions and positions are transient, here today gone tomorrow. Think of all the changes that have already taken place in your life. The only constant is “you”.

A motivational piece about self-transformation, belief and dreams.

Dreams… I believe in my dreams, talk about my dreams, think about my dreams, plan for my dreams, create opportunities for my dreams, and I see myself already in my dreams.

The only way to achieve a dream is to talk about it, believe it, see yourself in it and create opportunities for it.

There is a great will-power that follows whatever you imagine. This will-power gets you going despite all odds and the dreams that are supposed to take you ten to twenty years to achieve are achieved in a shorter period.

Paper plans are not enough for dreams! Just see yourself acting out what you have imagined and by the time you get into it, you may think you are still in the process of imagination.

What you believe is what you achieve. What you imagine is what you become. What you think is what you experience.

We have all defined success by the jobs we hold, the money we make, most importantly the things we own have defined us at some point in our lives. I am still chasing the dream but in a different way.

All our lives we have been told that we must work toward something. Whether it be good grades, a career, our goal has always been to make it happen and growing up, we have been groomed to chase the dream. Let’s be honest! Nobody’s mother ever told them, “Honey I want you to waste away your life watching the grass grow.”

I grew up with wanting success just as much as the next person only I thought I knew what the word success meant. I realize now that I had not the slightest clue what success meant.

We have all defined success by the jobs we hold, the money we make, most importantly the things we own have defined us at some point in our lives. I am still chasing the dream but in a different way.

SUCCESS to me is not what I make – it is what I leave behind.

I want to stand for something and make a difference where it counts. I realize that personal growth is not ABOUT ME.

I am a wife and a mother and I realize that I grow everyday in the smallest way. I watch my child, this extraordinary miracle that I was blessed with, and clarity comes to me like a slap in the face. I no longer mope around the house thinking I am useless to the world because I am not at work making money. I am doing what every mom wishes she could – being an active participant in my daughter’s life! I walked into this situation blindly but I am not blind to it. I remind myself that I am blessed everyday. THIS IS SUCCESS TO ME.

I look at my husband, when he does not know I am watching, and it amazes me how much in love with him I am. Never has a day gone by that I have not learned something from him. I know that I have found my soul mate and I will never be alone again! THIS IS SUCCESS TO ME.

Success is doing what you love the most. Success IS personal growth. Success is the knowledge that YOU are NOT alone in the world. It is a loving family and friends. Success is health – to be able to do the simple things in life like BE HAPPY, TAKE A WALK, BREATHE…

I know that I am not done learning to be successful. As I grow, my definition of success will grow with me and it is within my power to DEFINE success. SUCCESS is in my knowledge that I DON’T HAVE TO FOLLOW ANYONE ELSE’S PATH.

Life is my lesson and I am it’s humble student.

This is a brilliant motivational and insightful poem by Rudyard Kipling entitled ‘If’..It details the skillset, personal attributes, fortitude of a man / strong person. The required perseverance, determination and intelligence to rise above others and excel.

A great read to focus, motivate and always on Lucidry – inspire!

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream – and not make dreams your master;
If you can think – and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ‘em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
‘ Or walk with Kings – nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And – which is more – you’ll be a Man, my son!Rudyard Kipling

The author Henry James said of him: “Kipling strikes me personally as the most complete man of genius (as distinct from fine intelligence) that I have ever known.” In 1907, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, making him the first English language writer to receive the prize, and to date he remains its youngest recipient.

Short motivational story about a conversation between a marble statue and some marble tiles.

There was this museum laid with beautiful marble tiles, with a huge marble statue displayed in the middle of the lobby. Many people came from all over the world just to admire this beautiful marble statue.

One night, the marble tiles started talking to the marble statue.

Marble tile: “Marble statue, it’s just not fair, it’s just not fair! Why does everybody from all over the world come all the way here just to step on me while admiring you? Not fair!”

Marble statue: “My dear friend, marble tile. Do you still remember that we were actually from the same cave?”

Marble tile: “Yeah! That’s why I feel it is even more unfair. We were born from the same cave and yet we receive different treatment now. Not fair!” he cried again.

Marble statue: “Then, do you still remember the day when the designer tried to work on you, but you resisted the tools?”

Marble tile: “Yes, of course I remember. I hate that guy! How could he use those tools on me, it hurt so badly.”

Marble statue: “That’s right! He couldn’t work on you at all as you resisted being worked on.”

Marble tile: “So???”

Marble statue: “When he decided to give up on you and start working on me instead, I knew at once that I would be something different after his efforts. I did not resist his tools, instead I bore all the painful tools he used on me..”

Marble tile: “Mmmmmm…….”

Marble statue: “My friend, there is a price to everything in life. Since you decided to give up half way, you can’t blame anybody who steps on you now.”

A simple short story about a moth and how the lessons learned from the birth of a moth can be applied to the joys of achieving success after struggle.

A man found a cocoon of an emperor moth. He took it home so that he could watch the moth come out of the cocoon. On the day a small opening appeared, he sat and watched the moth for several hours as the moth struggled to force the body through that little hole.

The moth seemed to be stuck and appeared to have stopped making progress. It seemed as if it had gotten as far as it could and it could go no farther. The man, in his kindness, decided to help the moth; so he took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon. The moth then emerged easily. But its body was swollen and small, its wings wrinkled and shriveled.

The man continued to watch the moth because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to and able to support the body, which would contract in time. Neither happened! In fact, the little moth spent the rest of its life crawling around with a small, swollen body and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly.

The man in his kindness and haste did not understand that the struggle required for the moth to get through the tiny opening was necessary to force fluid from the body of the moth into its wings so that it would be ready for flight upon achieving its freedom from the cocoon. Freedom and flight would only come after the struggle. By depriving the moth of a struggle, he deprived the moth of health.

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life. If we were to go through our life without any obstacles, we would be crippled. We would not be as strong as what we could have been. Give every opportunity a chance, leave no room for regrets, and don’t forget the power in the struggle.

Right now I am puzzled about my life. I feel I am reaching a very important stage of my life and am looking inside myself to understand what is going on! Though I can’t find the unique answer, I see many probable reasons and am feeling confused. Where will I end up? I have to work on each one of them and come up with proper solutions, but I have come to one conclusion: until I fix those problems, some new ones will pop up. This will go on endlessly but you have to keep your balance and outwit them. They are meant to pass by, so why we have to keep ourselves haunted by their presence?

The best way to keep yourself upright is to have faith in your potential and destiny. If you are caught in the trap of self-pity you are killing yourself; never ever do it. God has blessed us all with our lives to accomplish some mission with our lives. We are blessed with something that is real and unique inside us; nobody can copy it or steal it.

Why do small worries worry us? I agree that sometimes worries come to us in parade like fashion. You start losing interest, faith, and dedication. Everything you try seems to be in vain. But if you are on this steaming point, where everything seems to get vaporized, just wait and hang on! Be patient and use every ounce of your willpower to keep yourself upright because no other option would work at that time. We have to do it because otherwise we are declaring that we are defeated. Wait cannot be taken as defeat. We have to think that life is like sinewave, with equal magnitude. If I am going through all negatives to the peak, I am bound to enjoy positive peaks also.

It was written somewhere that when you keep a thing in your mind, and keep on pursuing it or repeating it, it definitely turns to it’s physical equivalent. So don’t get haunted by your worries, but don’t flush them either. Sort them out with the solutions and keep those solutions in your mind and throw yourself into work again and just relax; you have done everything under your control. We are bound to get opportunities and a chance to turn them to into realities. Time is the only issue now.

Don’t get disheartened by that period. Be sure you are hammering them in a right way to shape them all. If you can achieve the desired results, it will add to your confidence – the key of life. Nobody knows what will happen tomorrow but it’s always good to live life with a positive approach and confidence. It fetches us good always.

Again confidence is of two kinds:

1. Internally generated
2. Externally generated

Internally generated confidence is the internal motivation and conviction that things will happen in a way I want and I’ll make my way through with my capabilities, no matter what happens.

Externally generated confidence is the case in which we have already had some success; we have achieved and reached some productive stage. This stage gives you command of your life in terms of confidence.

The only difference between the two types is the level. Internally generated confidence is like the elementary level that helps in every situation. You have to generate, nurture and maintain this type of confidence throughout your life. If you have it always, then you get a chance to get externally generated confidence through your achievements. This is like an intermediate level. You are not privileged to reach this level if you don’t generate and maintain internal confidence and pass the elementary level. If you don’t have it, practice to have it & to believe in it and you will definitely go ahead with it.

I have the opinion that “Depth of pain is inversely proportional to the rate at which you accept the facts”. Once you accept the facts fast, nothing remains there to haunt you. Your battle itself starts with acceptance. Ironically most of the time we can’t accept the facts at a faster rate because we are afraid of our own image. Again I believe that many a times we become victims of our own image. Our past makes our image. Present and future are not involved in building this image, so we have to give a thought — Do we create our image or does our image, built in the past, pressure us as to how to behave in the present?

Once the above stage is over, what is important is to gather all the contributing factors to prepare for the greater resultant force against our odds. Many times we try to avoid others when we are going through the odds. I should have trust in my people and my conscience. When I am trying to fight with outside odds, I have to gather all the help and support, which they will extend and have, to win my battle and come out successfully. Issues like image or ego shouldn’t be on your radar to tackle with at that time. I am sure that everybody who is sensitive never loses a chance to help others in need.

Last, but not the least, all that is explained here is a sort of process for refining yourself. It will take time, but it’s worth it to invest in yourself because it really pays off in the long run. There is no magic wand in this real world to transform our problems into solutions in a second! We know perfectly well what can turn our dreams into realities…DON’T WE???
