How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie is a title that I had honestly been avoiding for a good while. One, due to its cheesy title and the kind of people who had been recommending it where the sales orientated person that I love to hate. However, I gave in not long ago, and the book is a great read.
The book is on just about every ‘must-read’ business / marketing / leadership reading list that is out there. Familiar with the Gladwell name also, I went in with high expectations, I was not disappointed!
In the Tipping Point, Malcolm Gladwell provides an overview on the phenomenon of social spread, the underlying reasons that make things travel through groups in a viral manner!
Who Moved My Cheese by Dr Spencer Johnson is a great read that has a look at how different people go after what they want in life and deal with the disappointment or happiness of attaining it.
The book is a light read and easily be dealt and finished within 2 or 3 days. With a premise and explanation before hand – then the story itself and then a reflection and theory section. Johnson presents what we all want in life, whether that be success, happiness, a family etc and calls it ‘cheese’. It then takes four characters – 2 mice – Sniff and Scurry and two ‘little people’ called Hem and Haw.
The book Freakonomicss by Steven D.Levitt and Stephen J.Dubner is one that has received critical acclaim and attention. I managed to get round to reading it a while back and it doesn’t dissapoint.

Marketing can be daunting, in that if you have not worked or been in that field previously – the prospect of how to get your name out there and of going after clients is often daunting. The following titles are books that I found invaluable in giving me a solid base a someone with little background in marketing. Both inspirational and informative – the following titles are great for the budding entrepreneur!
